Emma's story

Meet the photographer

This is the page where I tell you all about my background as a photographer, how I learned my craft and the journey I’ve been on to this point.

I’ve been a photographer for all of my adult life (and as you can see by this very old photo, quite a while before then too!).

Born in Liverpool I went to Art College in Middlesbrough at the now “Northern School of Art” Completed my HND in Visual Communications where I specialised in Photography but had a grounding in graphics, film editing and illustration. From there I moved down to “that there London” to assist a well known still life advertising photographer, we were based just off Regent Street and worked together successfully for years.

I’ve moved from large format still life photography, taking a couple of days to produce a single carefully crafted image on a single sheet of film measuring 10” x 8” to animal portraiture where I can rattle off over 8 frames/second if needed. It's quite the change!

I’ve always loved editing images and was involved in the early days of digital retouching.

Taking a break from working when we started a family was tough but I never stopped creating images.

Returning to work and moving to portraiture, animal and people was the best move I ever made. I love working and connecting with people, honestly you guys are the best, and capturing you with your animals means I get to see the love the joy and the heartache that comes with sharing your world with these wonderful beings.

The rest is everything that you see on this site, I have clients all over the South East (and further afield), many of whom have become friends, I love all their dogs and horses and cats etc, I feel for them when their animals are ill, or injured or sadly pass away.

I put my heart and soul into the images I create and while as a client, you only see me working on the shoot, the biggest (and longest!) job is going through the hundreds of images, making creative decisions and editing the selection to one that you’re going to love.
